The Forum took place from April 14-16 in Kaifeng City, Henan Province and was co-hosted by the Teaching Directory Committee of the Foreign Languages and Literature of Higher Learning Institutes of the National Education Ministry, Henan University and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. It is one of the top forums for the English Major administrators.
The Forum was held when the National Educational Ministry is getting ready to publicize The National Standards for the Teaching Quality of the Undergraduate Studies of the English Major and focused mainly on cultivation of teaching abilities and promotion of teaching levels for the English teachers in China. Many deans and experts were invited to lecture on topics like teacher cultivation, curriculum reforms and construction, teaching method reforms, teaching practice, and construction of English-related majors. In addition, many issues and challenges related to the above topics were discussed and several novel ideas were shared.
The Forum provided a good opportunity for all the participants to understand better the National Standards for the Teaching Quality of the Undergraduate Studies of the English Major and shed much light on our application for the two new majors of International Business English and Translation as well as curriculum construction, establishment of practice teaching bases off campus and teachers cultivation.
